It spent its entire maturation period in ex-bourbon casks and, like the two previous bottlings, is delivered in a book in which the history of Laphroaig is described in individual chapters. These are joined by notes of dried flowers, fall leaves, sweet vanilla, maple syrup, toffee, rock candy, honey and black pepper. On the palate, the Laphroaig The Ian Hunter Series #3 33 years old offers an aroma mix of sweet peat smoke and honey-glazed smoked ham paired with fresh-fruity notes of lemons and limes as well as earthy-floral notes, toffee and nuances of iodine and cedar.
