The Hart Brothers The Legends Glenfiddich 50 Year Old is a true rarity that whiskey connoisseurs should rely on for another reason: it is a bottling that was not produced in the Speyside distillery, but by the independent bottler Hart Brothers. Hart Brothers has existed since the late 19th century and is still a family business. The spirits dealer and bottler buys certain batches of casks from various distilleries and then fills them under his own direction. That’s why Hart Brothers offers whiskey lovers a large number of limited single bottlings from a wide variety of distilleries across the country, each with their own unique touch.
One of these jewels of Scottish whiskey art is the 50-year-old Glenfiddich. The noble spirit from one of the best-known distilleries in the Speyside whiskey region was distilled in 1964 and bottled in a sherry cask for aging. So it is not surprising that the aroma is dominated by a clear note of sherry, accompanied by flavors of cream and chocolate. Other aromas are molasses and raisins. The finish is characterized by a note of ginger. When bottling by Hart Brothers, cold filtration and the addition of colorings were avoided in order to fully preserve the high quality of the 50-year-old whiskey.
